Islamabad grab blind cricket title


ISLAMABAD, April 14: Islamabad outplayed Gujranwala by 116 runs to capture the PABCC-PAF Challenge Cup National Cricket tournament at the PAF Ground here on Sunday.

Batting first, Islamabad piled up 227 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Gujranwala to 111 for eight to win the final.

For Islamabad, Anwar Ali hit 64 to claim the man-of-the-match award while Masood Zia was the next best scorer with 55. For Gujranwala, Shafaat was the top scorer with 25.

The best players awards in the three categories of blind cricketers went to Anwar Ali, Masood Jan (both Islamabad) and Iftikhar Tiger of Okara. The best wicket-keeper’s award was collected by Zeeshan Gul, also from Islamabad.—APP
