Nazim-DCO rivalry affects govt work
By Our Correspondent
MITHI, April 12: The development works in the area were affecting due to strained working relations between a district nazim of Arbab group and the district coordination officer.
District Nazim Arbab Anwar while talking to reporters on Friday alleged that DCO Dr Aftab Ahmed Memon had seized accounts of taluka councils Nagarparkar and Chhachhro, and 15 union councils which had impeded progress on development projects in the area.
The DCO was not releasing Bait-ul-Mal funds of 5,600 mustahiqeen (needy people) since four months nor attending the meeting of Mushawarati (consultative) committee which had stopped development projects, the zila nazim claimed.
Tharparkar DCO on the other hand alleged that when the Arbab group was at the helm of affairs in the province the zila nazim did not convene a single meeting of consultative committee during last three years and development schemes were approved by the nazim in violation of local government rules.
“As the lists of mustahiqeen of Bait-ul-Mal contained 100 per cent names of Arbab’s group favourites, I have not released their funds because other poor people are also entitled to get this assistance,” DCO said.
