BANNU: Cutting of trees resented

By Our Correspondent

BANNU, April 12: A large number of trees along the Marwat Canal are being ruthlessly cut while the officials of the department concerned are least bothered to take action in this regard.

The local people on Saturday raised their voice against the officials of the irrigation department, alleging that the officials did not take any action to prevent the cutting of the trees.

Meanwhile, an official of the department when contacted told Dawn that they had asked the Khasadar Force to take immediate steps to prevent the trees from felling by the unscrupulous elements.

Meanwhile, Malik Mir Shamad Khan Wazir of Momand Khel when approached by this correspondent said that the forest along the canal belonged to their tribe.
