LAHORE, April 7: Bomb hoaxes at a private university in Gulberg and a branch of a local bank at Shadman Chowk panicked students, teachers, officials and bankers on Monday.

An unidentified caller informed the administration of Iqra Millennium University at 9:30am that a bomb had been planted on the campus which would go off soon.

Rescue 1122, Edhi Ambulances, police and bomb disposal squad arrived at the spot. The students were sent home for the complete sweeping of the university building. The bomb disposal squad and police cleared the building after one hour.

Gulberg police lodged a complaint against the unidentified caller.

In another incident, an unidentified caller informed the employees of a local bank at Shadman Chowk about the presence of explosive material in the building.

Branch officials immediately evacuated the building and informed the Civil Lines police who reached the scene along with the bomb disposal squad. Bomb disposal squad officials searched the building but found nothing. The building was cleared in one-and-a-half hour. — Staff Reporter
