KARACHI: Ex-MQM man among three killed in city

KARACHI, April 7: Three people were killed on Monday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, witnesses and police said.

Baldia Town police said a 32-year-old man, identified as Abbas Maada, was shot dead near Baldia Town No 3 by unknown attackers.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where sources said the victim received a single bullet that went through his skull.

The police said the victim was a former worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Body found

The bullet-riddled body of a young man was found in Kalakot.

The police said the body of Mohammed Yousuf, 22, was found at Shedi Village Road around 4.30pm.

They said the body was brought to the Civil Hospital but the victim’s relatives took away his body without legal formalities.

Hospital sources said the victim had received multiple bullet wounds in his upper torso.

Police said the victim belonged to the Arshad Pappu group.

Man shot dead

A young man was killed and another injured in firing near Saeed Manzil on M. A. Jinnah Road.

Sources said two people were injured, one of them fatally, in a firing incident and they were shifted to Civil Hospital by public.

They said one of the victims, identified as Imran, 32, died at the operation theatre, while the other, identified as Salam, was in a critical condition.

Salam’s relatives told Dawn that the 22-year-old victim was a salesman at a book shop in Urdu Bazaar and he was waiting for transport at the bus stop when he received a stray bullet.

Cinemas attacked

A mob attacked and ransacked on Sunday three cinema houses on M. A. Jinnah Road, witnesses and police said.

Saddar police said the mobsters also beat up the cinema staff and also looted some cash from one of three cinemas where an Indian movie was on display.
