KARACHI: Doctor freed on payment of ransom


KARACHI, April 6: A senior doctor and faculty member of the Dow University of Health Sciences, who had been kidnapped a few days earlier, was released on payment of half a million rupees in ransom, a Pakistan Medical Association statement said on Sunday.

Dr Asim Jafery, an associate professor of the DUHS, was kidnapped from outside the Lyari General Hospital a few days ago and released by the kidnappers after a deal with his family on payment of ransom.
