Vice Admiral continues winning run at KRC
By Anwar Zuberi
KARACHI, March 30: Public fancy four-year-old bay Vice Admiral proved too good for his opponents in making it two wins on the trot as owner Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara scored a treble in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Vice Admiral set the pace right from the word go and enhanced his lead after negotiating the bend to gallop to an eight-and-a-half length’s victory over filly Leopard Of Arab.
Saddled by Mushtaq Ali Khan, he was smartly ridden home by jockey M. Nasir.
Thanks Naeem and Reyan the Great finished in the same order to complete the frame as the field was reduced to 13 following the eleventh hour withdrawal of colt Sada-e-Awan due to injury at the starting gate.
Backed by connection, filly Taizper posted one-and-a-half lengths victory over colt Lion Of Arab to claim the feature event. They were chased by Arab Hi Arab and Terrorist.
Taizper who got the owner’s blessing over stablemate Terrorist completed the rout.
Earlier, filly Jadu Jantar and colt Tube Jee made amends to present Pir Pagara with a back-to-back double in the third and fourth races.
The former edged bay Trust Again by two lengths while the latter romped home by 14 lengths.
Irfan Mehdi’s four-year-old colt Sing Sing returned with flying colours for the second time running, beating colt Mr Mention Not by two-and-a-half lengths to win top division of class VII.
Syed Ali Gohar Shah’s four-year-old bay colt Muktadar repeated his winning feat by posting a two-and-a-half length’s victory in the opener while mare Silent Love overcame Sanam Jan by two-and-a-half lengths in the second.
Trainer Allah Judrio saddled the winning trio of Pir Pagara while riders Zaki Zakir and Arshad came out with a brace of winners.
