LAHORE, March 29: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has granted license for an FM radio channel to Punjab Traffic Police and its transmission would be launched soon.

Punjab IG Dr Syed Azhar Hasan Nadeem said while presiding over a meeting on Saturday that through the channel, the citizens would be informed about the traffic situation on city roads so that they may not face any inconvenience in this regard.

The meeting reviewed various matters regarding traffic management and took some important decisions in this regard.

The IG ordered launch of a vigorous campaign for creating awareness among the masses about traffic rules through different TV programmes and special lectures at educational institutions, bus stands, offices of goods unions and mosques.

He also directed the traffic police to not to allow beggars at intersections and roads to help ensure smooth flow of traffic.
