OIC criticises Dutch film

By Our Correspondent

RIYADH, March 29: The Organisation of Islamic Conference has criticised the screening of the anti-Islam Dutch film, urging the international community to discourage such provocative acts.

The OIC’s Secretary General Prof Ekmel-eddin Ihsan Oglu, said in a statement in Jeddah on Saturday. The film incited hatred against Muslims. The OIC Secretary General added the film would cause further trouble and turmoil, undermining the very pillars of global peace and stability.

Ihsan Oglu said since the international community and the Dutch government has voiced opposition to the film, the production and the screening of the film needed to be viewed as a challenge to the international community.

Emphasising the earlier demand of the OIC for the United Nations to prohibit such provocative acts and enacting legislation against similar acts that paved way for violence, hatred that contributed to polarisation in the world on religious and ethnic lines, the OIC Secretary General emphasised on the need of such legislation as soon as possible.
