LARKANA, March 28: People foiled a bid to kidnap a seven-year boy near railway crossing here on Friday and handed over the kidnapper to police.

Confirming the incident Market police said that the kidnapper was a lunatic person and would be released.

When contacted, the father of the boy, Mohammed Hassan Maganhar, said that his son Jamil was intercepted while returning after purchasing salt. Akbar Detho, resident of Masoo Hab Village, got hold of the boy and was escaping when on his hue and cry people caught him. He was handed over to police for further investigation, his father said.

“We being poor are not interested in registering FIR and roam after police, Hassan Manganhar, who works at a restaurant, said.

Duty officer at Market police said the kidnapper was a mentally retarded person.

Meanwhile, political activists took out a procession in Kandhkot on Friday to protest against kidnapping of two minor girls.

Erum Naseern 3, was kidnapped from Mumtaz Mohalla while Tahira Noonari 5, was kidnapped two days ago from Mitha Chowk, Kandhkot.

The procession started from Kashmore road and after marching on different roads of the town reached near Ghanta Ghar chowk. The protesters were carrying placards and banners and raising slogans against the police.

They condemned deteriorating law and order situation and termed it terrorism against the citizens where the life, freedom and security of the citizens were endangered. Later, leaders of different parties observed a sit-in and blocked the main Kashmore-Kandhkot road.—Correspondent
