KARACHI, March 28: Seven vessels including three cement loaders to load 22,000 tons of cement are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

The berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as the port authorities tried to clear the backlog in the backdrop of inward rush of foreign flag ships.

As a result eleven vessels, Hanjin Chittagong, Kota Mesra, Cape Negro, Eric G. Gibson, Oel Spirit, Atyaab, Balticon Hamburg, D.D. Progress, Pacific Express, Breeze and Handy Tankers Spirit were accommodated berths.

The departing ships were led by Gopa, Marida Princess, A. Dragon, Pheaton, Danicla, Lucky Man, Caribbean Carrier and Cape Arago.

While Breeze, Kota Mesra, Handy Tankers Spirit, D.D. Progress, Eric G. Gibson, Balticon Hamburg, Jbu Orient, Cape Negro, Strange Attractor-1, and Hanjin Chittagong are due to sail out on Saturday.

A total tonnage of 91,229 tons comprising 26,840 tons of export cargo including 5,270 tons of rice and 4,108 tons of cement and 64,389 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Abu Al-Fadel, Al-Mansourah and Al-Wakra to load cement, Lalazar with crude oil, Champion Star to load molasses, Tower Bridge, and Bunga Delima with containers.
