Warne quits county

LONDON, March 27: Shane Warne will not return to play for Hampshire this season despite being contracted to the club for the 2008 campaign, the English county announced on Thursday.

Australia leg-spin great Warne, who had been due to captain Hampshire again this season but Rod Bransgrove, the county’s chairman, said the legend’s interests and desire to see more of his young children had prompted the 38-year-old to end his association with Hampshire.—AFP
