NAWABSHAH, March 27: The second additional district and sessions judge on Thursday rejected interim bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leaders who faced charges of being involved in the murder of a Pakistan People’s Party activist.

The president of the Nawabshah chapter of PML-Q Khan Mohammad Dahiri and son of caretaker Sindh forest minister, Abdul Hafeez Unnar, and Imdad Rahu had been on interim bail since they obtained a protective bail from the Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court.

Heavy contingents of police cordoned off the court premises to arrest the accused after the court rejected their bail but none of them turned up to attend the hearing.

The in-charge of Doulatpur Rural Health Centre, Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada, appeared in court for verification of medical certificate submitted by Mr Dahiri’s lawyer on the last hearing in support of his client’s claim he could not attend hearing due to health reasons.

The doctor said that he had checked the accused as an outdoor patient and mentioned his observations in the certificate.

The judge Masood Ahmed Korejo rejected the interim bail of all the three accused. Later, police arrested Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada and two unidentified persons from the court premises but denied to confirm they had been arrested.

CABLE THEFT: Unidentified thieves stole away 2,000 feet of wires from the main transmission line late on Wednesday night during load-shedding hours, causing suspension of power to Daur taluka and its adjoining villages.

In-charge of Daur grid station Shahmir Ali confirmed that thieves had taken away the wires from 66kv main transmission line.

A technical team had started work on the restoration of power and would take a few hours to restore supply, he said.

The wires were stolen between 11:30pm to 1:30 am on the night of Wednesday-Thursday during load-shedding hours, causing suspension of power supply to Daur, Bandhi, 60-Miles and many other adjoining villages of Daur.

It also affected water supply and work at flour mills, atta chakkis and other businesses.
