BAHAWALPUR, March 27: Peaceful transfer of power will be completed in Punjab soon, Governor Khalid Maqbool said on Thursday.

Speaking at the third convocation of the Islamia University at the Baghdad-ul-Jadid Auditorium, the governor condemned terrorism and said the society rejected the menace in all its forms. He urged students to focus on their studies and avoid politics of agitation. He said they should not be misled by any political party. He said students should keep abreast of national and international issues. He said that next time distinguished students should be given cash awards along with medals.

Turning to university teachers, Maqbool asked them to pay attention to research, get their research papers published in reputed international journals and pass on knowledge of current affairs to their students.

Earlier, Islamia University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Belal A Khan said 125 projects worth Rs3,000 million had transformed the university into a progressive institution.

Later, the governor awarded gold medals to 60 students and degrees to 10 PhD and five M.Phil scholars.
