Lawyers vow to keep up struggle

HYDERABAD, March 27: Lawyers boycotted courts in many cities of the province on Thursday in response to a call for weekly protests by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) to press the government for the reinstatement of superior court judges.

Lawyers did not appear in lower, sessions and high courts in Hyderabad and held an Eid Millad-un-Nabi programme at the District Bar Association office. A group of lawyers raised slogans in the civil court premises in favour of deposed judges.

In Naushahro Feroze, Moro, Kandiaro and Bhirya lawyers boycotted court proceedings. They demanded reinstatement of deposed judges and vowed the Thursday’s strike would continue till the restoration of judges.

In Mirpurkhas, DBA members boycotted courts and DBA President Salahuddin Panhwar said they would continue protest till the independence of judiciary and restoration of deposed judges.

Umerkot DBA members also boycotted courts.
