Dance, music festival to celebrate spring

ISLAMABAD, March 27: Celebrating spring season in the city, Pakistan National Council of the Arts announced a three days dance and music festival “Rhythm of Indus” from March 29-30.

The highly acclaimed Karachi-based national performing arts group would be coming to Islamabad to present their best included well trained and talented dancers experienced orchestras who had represented Pakistan in more than 30 countries.

The ensemble boasts a rich repertoire of folk and classical dances. Performances would include traditional dances like Peacock and Surtaal, seasonal dances like Basant bhangra, Balochi dances like Leva and Fishermen’s dances and Punjabi Bhangra and Luddi besides Khattak and Hunza dances.

The programme also includes instrumental performances by the famous sarod player Asad Qazilbash and Muhammad Ajmal on Tabla besides instrumentals by Sitar player Muhammad Sajid to mention a few.

PNCA also announced weekly presentation of free Puppet Show for entertainment/education of children on March 28 at Liaquat Hall, Rawalpindi. The shows which would be held every Friday, included folk stories, skits and traditional dances besides puppet performances highlighting social issues.
