Two die after consuming moonshine

SHEIKHUPURA, March 26: Two men died after consuming moonshine in Siddiqabad locality near Morr Khunda in Mangtanwala police jurisdiction of Nankana district, some 65 kilometres away from here on Wednesday.

Maqsood, a revenue official (patwari) and Rana Faqir consumed moonshine on the eve of wedding of their friend.

Their condition deteriorated soon after taking the poisonous liquor and they died before being provided any medical treatment. The police started investigations.

LOOTED: Five robbers looted money, gold ornaments, cell phones and other valuables from a house in Shish Mehal locality near Gujranwala Road on Wednesday.

Five masked robbers barged in Chaudhry Sardar’s house and took his family hostage. They collected gold ornaments, five cell phones, Rs200,000 and other valuables from his house and fled.

The family said the total loss mounted to Rs3 million.
