ABBOTTABAD, March 26: A former provincial minister along with his brother was arrested after rejection of bail by a special anti-terrorist court and sent on two-day police remand here on Wednesday.

Sardar Mohammad Idress and his brother Fazalur Rehman were booked by Abbottabad police on February 27 for allegedly attacking police and offices of a rival candidate. Police arrested 36 supporters of the MMA-backed candidate including two of his brothers. Mr Idress lost his seat in the elections.

All the arrested people were produced before the special court and later freed on bail. Mr Idress and his brother fled and later got transit bail from the district and sessions judge Haripur.

Mr Idress appeared before the court twice but the case was adjourned. On Wednesday after arguments before the court, his bail was rejected and sent on remand.

Meanwhile, sources claimed that Sardar Idress was shifted to the civil hospital on medical grounds. — Correspondent
