KARACHI: Woman among three shot dead

KARACHI, March 26: Three persons, including a young woman, were killed on Wednesday in different parts of the city.

Witnesses said a woman was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on her car near Hussain Centre on Shahrah-i-Iraq, Saddar. They said the woman was sitting alone in the car when she was fired upon.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where the victim was identified as Beenish Zehra, 25, wife of Adeel. Hospital sources said the victim received two bullets, which pierced her neck.

Sub-inspector Zahoor Ahmed Bhatti of the Preedy police told Dawn that the woman and her husband had come to Saddar for shopping. “The man left his wife in the car and went to buy something when his wife was shot and killed,” he added.

The police officer said the couple were residents of North Nazimabad and they had two minor children.

SI Bhatti said the attacker fired four shots on the windscreen of the car. “It seems to be case of targeted killing,” he added.

Man shot dead

Nabi Bux police said a 35-yer-old man was shot dead in Ranchhore Lane.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where the victim was identified as Mohammed Farooq, owner of a decoration shop.

The police said the man was going to his nearby house from his shop near Pakistan Masjid when he was attacked.

A case against unknown culprits was registered on the complaint of the victim’s younger brother, Imran.

Bullet-riddled body

A 25-year-old man was found shot dead in Khokhrapar.

His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was identified as Imran, son of Saleem.

Hospital sources said the man received two bullets in his upper torso.

Police said they were gathering information about the incident.
