SUKKUR, March 25: The biggest robbery in Electronic Market of Sukkur took place on Tuesday because of prolonged and unannounced load-shedding by Hesco.

Power outage at 8.30pm provided opportunity to dacoits who looted cash, mobiles and other valuables worth more than one million rupees.

A gang of seven to nine armed dacoits first cordoned off the street of Electronic Market located in Shaheed Ganj area Sukkur situated at distance of 200 yards from B-Section police station. They looted cash, cell phones, wristwatches and electronic gadgets from shopkeepers and buyers.

On resistance they opened fire injuring two shop employees, Shakir and Kashif who were later shifted to the Civil Hospital Sukkur.

Traders closed bazaars and shopping centre and staged demonstration under the leadership of President Sukkur Small Trades, Haji Muhammad Haroon Memon against lawlessness. They were critical of the SHO B-Section police station for failing to control crimes since last 10 months.

They said since posting of the SHO at B-Section police station looting, snatching of motorcycles, cell phones and robberies had increased manifold.

They said they regularly demanded of the RPO, the DIG and the DPO Sukkur through the Sukkur Small Traders to remove the SHO but no action was taken thus resulting in a big dacoity.

They gave call of a shutter down in Sukkur for Wednesday against lawlessness and failure of Sukkur Police to control crimes.
