KOHAT, March 25: Mortar shells and missiles fired from Hangu district and Orakzai Agency on Tuesday destroyed dozens of houses and shops in Kachai town of Kohat district, besides injuring a security official.

The injured official, identified as Sakhi Marjan, was provided treatment inside the Frontier Constabulary fort in the area.

The fighting among the residents of Kachai area of Kohat, Shahu area of Hangu and Misthi tribe of Orakzai Agency continued on the second consecutive day without any break. Though a 14-member peace jirga, headed by former chief justice of Peshawar High Court, was constituted to stop the ongoing fighting, yet it was not given clearance to enter Orakzai Agency to negotiate a peace deal with Misthi tribesmen.
