KARACHI, March 25: Nine ships carrying containers and to load cement and molasses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was on the higher side where half a dozen ships, Orient Saori to offload wheat, Csav Lonqutmay and Creek to unload and load containers, Atlantic Express to unload and load general cargo and Ploutos to offload gas oil.

Sailing was also active as seven ships, Chemroad Vega, Chemstar Duke, Eser Kaptanoglu, Fresco Marino, Even Given, Maritime Valour and Jitra Bhum departed on Tuesday, while Sinar Bintan, Csav Longuimay, Alina, Creek, Ploutos, Pheaton and Gopa are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was fairly brisk as the total tonnage handled rose to 0.124m tons comprising 59,359 tons of export cargo including 4,465 tons of rice, 10,300 tons of clinkers and 5,922 tons of cement, while imported tonnage totalled 64,264 tons.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Bunga Melati-4 with 4,000 tons of RBD palm oil, Addarraq to load 22,700 tons of molasses, Daniela, Oel Spirit, Cape Arago with containers, Bogasari Lima and Thla Matina with coal and Team Al-Emirates to load 3,500 tons of cement.
