Published March 25, 2008

LAHORE, March 24: The district consumer court has directed an air-conditioner dealer to refund the price of a faulty AC and pay Rs10,000 as litigation cost to the buyer within 10 days.

Petitioner Asim Saeed Butt filed a claim for recovery of Rs60,500 as compensation from Orient Group of Companies. He submitted that he purchased a split air-conditioner from a dealer of the respondent company for Rs24,500 with one-year warranty. The air-conditioner did not work properly and he lodged a complaint with the dealer. It was sent to the head office of the company after being checked by a technician, but was returned without repair. He served a legal notice on the company which did not reply.
