PESHAWAR, March 24: The special drug court on Monday granted bail to two employees of a multinational Chinese company dealing in traditional food supplements across the
world charged with illegally running their centres in the province.
The court presided over by Mr Malik Mujtaba Ahmad ordered that the two accused should be released after furnishing two sureties of Rs200,000 each.
The managing director of Tianshi International, Mr Luxifeng, and another staffer Musa Khan, were arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) few days ago after their pre-arrest bail application was dismissed by the special court in a case regarding non-registration of their centre in the NWFP and providing incorrect information about active ingredients in the products.
Advocate Noor Alam Khan appeared for the petitioners and contended that Tianshi International was a reputed firm dealing in traditional Chinese food supplements and other products. He contended that the FIA and the health department had violated the law while registering the FIR against the company.
Mr Khan argued that the products of the said company were earlier tested by the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, which had not found anything harmful in it.
