PM to take oath on 25th

The new prime minister will take oath of office on Tuesday morning (March 25) at the Aiwan-i-Sadr under the 1973 Constitution, the president’s spokesman, Major General (retd) Rashid Qureshi, told APP on Saturday.

The president has summoned the National Assembly to meet on Monday at 4pm to elect the new leader of the house. The Speaker will intimate the president about the result of the session in writing and a notification will be published in the Gazette.

The protocol wing of the presidency is finalising list of invitees for the ceremony.

President Pervez Musharraf will administer the oath to the new prime minister. Under the Constitution, a new prime minister must obtain a vote of confidence from the National Assembly within 60 days.—APP
