Karachi Blues reach final

KARACHI, March 19: Left-arm spinner Azeem Qureshi grabbed five wickets but Karachi Blues stormed into All-Karachi Disable Cricket Tournament final with a commanding 44-run victory over Karachi Whites at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground on Tuesday.

Right handless, Azeem finished with excellent figures of five for 41 in 12 overs while off-spinner Farooq Khattak grabbed four wickets for 24 in 9.2 overs to dismiss Karachi Blues for 121 in 33.2 overs. Abdul Rehman top-scored with 31, Sakhi Jan got 28 and Danish Ahmed made 20.

Karachi Whites, in reply, crashed to 77 all out in 23 overs. Captain Salim Karim made 16. Ameer Ahmed, whose right handed is affected by polio, captured four wickets for 23 with his left-arm spin and leg-spinner Danish Ahmed got three wickets for 17.

Abdul Rehman (best batsman), Azeem Qureshi (best bowler), Nadeem Qureshi (best fielder) and Danish Ahmed (man of the match) were given special awards.

Karachi Blues now face Karachi Greens in the final for which date and venue will be decided later.
