HYDERABAD, March 19: Baldia police have detained two women in connection with a criminal case lodged against them for blocking a road and raising obstruction in official duty of police.

Ashraf Begum and Naseeba and others were named in an FIR vide crime No 48/08 lodged by Baldia police after they blocked a road in protest of the arrest of their relative, Rahib Magsi.

Magsi was picked up by Pinyari police on the ground that he was an absconding accused in two cases.

Another case has been lodged against him as he was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed weapon. An FIR has been lodged against him.

PRISONERS: Fourteen prisoners who had been convicted in minor offences would be released from Central and Nara prisons on the eve of Rabi-ul-Awwal on Thursday under the directives of President Pervez Musharraf.

12 prisoners would be released from the Central Jail while two from Nara prison.

Twenty-one prisoners would get remission in their sentences.

WIN: A PML-N’s activist, Sultan Sheikh, has won the elections of Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) for the post of senior member managing committee.

He has secured 278 votes in the annual elections. He had submitted application for recounting of votes after he was defeated by a margin of one vote by Abdul Salam Abbasi.

During recounting Sheikh got benefit of eight votes and won the elections.
