Man shot dead outside court

HYDERABAD, March 17: A man was gunned down outside the Civil Courts Building on Tuesday within the jurisdiction of Cantonment police station.

Ghulam Sarwar s/o Shah Bux Umerani had married Neelo Rind d/o of Mehnan Rind of Chambar Taluka, Tando Allahyar district few months back. He was a driver and already married with four children.

The girl’s family objected to the marriage. According to his brother Rashid Umerani, today he was to appear in the Civil Court before the Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate for hearing in a criminal case against him. He had also filed an application before the Sessions Judge seeking protection from girl’s family.

As he was to enter the Civil Courts from the side of the house of Deputy Commissioner, armed occupants on a motorbike opened fire hitting Umerani and three others Aslam Mari, Liaquat Mari and Noor Ahmed Mari. They were taken to the Civil Hospital where Umerani died.

The three injured had arrived for hearing in their cases. The deceased’s relative did not get the autopsy conducted and took away the body as they hail from Shahdadkot.
