ISLAMABAD, March 17: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA from Karachi Nabil Ahmed Gabol on Monday said former prime minister Shaukat Aziz would be summoned to the country through a parliamentary committee to hold him accountable for the present poor state of national economy.
Talking to reporters after taking oath as MNA for the second consecutive term, Mr Gabol said the next coalition government had decided to make the parliamentary committees more powerful.
Mr Gabol said Pakistan was today facing great economical crisis due to the wrong policies of the previous regime.
He regretted that former prime minister Shaukat Aziz had run away from the country after putting in deep trouble. However, he said, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance would summon Mr Aziz to appear before it to explain his economic policies. Interestingly, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) MNA Kashmala Tariq was also present with Mr Gabol and instead of defending Mr Aziz, she supported Mr Gabol’s idea and said: “Yes, he (Mr Aziz) should come and explain.”
She said it was due to wrong policies of Mr Aziz that the whole party had to suffer. She admitted that in the past, the party was not taken into confidence in all the matters.
Kashmala Tariq also hinted at supporting the planned resolution of the PPP and the PML-N for the restoration of the judges. She said after all she was a lawyer.
