KARACHI: Transporters’ strike today

KARACHI, March 17: Reacting to the recent hike in the prices of petrol and diesel, the Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) has called for a strike on March 18.

According to a KTI press release, no bus, mini-bus or coach will ply on city roads and all intercity buses and goods carriers will also observe a strike.

The decision was taken in a hurriedly-called meeting of theKarachi Transport Ittehad (KTI), presided over by Syed Irshad Hussain Shah Bukhari, on Monday.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of various transport organisations.

The transporters urged the government to withdraw the decisions of March 1 and 15 and to immediately restore the old rates.—PPI
