Highwaymen gun down driver

SUKKUR, March 16: Bandits shot dead driver of a trailer when he ignored their signal to stop and tried to speed past them on the Rohri-Salehpat road in Salehpat area near here late on Saturday night.

The bandits who had been looting passenger vehicles after blocking the road signalled the trailer to stop. When they saw the driver was trying to speed away they opened fire on the vehicle, seriously injuring the driver Mumtaz, 45, before fleeing.

Police move the injured to taluka hospital Rohri where he died before getting any medical treatment.

Later, the police along with villagers chased the dacoits but failed to trace them. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

MOTORCYCLIST INJURED: Armed robbers seriously injured a motorcyclist when he resisted their attempt to snatch his vehicle at Gadani railway crossing in the limits of B-Section police station late on Saturday night.

Mohammad Danish of Takkar Muhalla was going home on his motorcycle from New Pind. As he reached Gadani railway crossing, two robbers stopped him and tried to snatch the motorcycle at gunpoint. When he resisted the robbers opened fire and injured him seriously.

He was seriously injured and moved to Sukkur Civil Hospital in critical condition.

Kalhoro village in the limits of Adilpur police station early on Saturday morning.

Abdul Qudoos, 7, and his sister Shazia, 5, son and daughter of Abdul Jabbar went missing on Friday evening and their dead bodies were found near Dingar Wah early on Saturday morning.

Abdul Jabbar registered a case at Adilpur police station on Saturday evening against Abdul Rehman Kalhoro, Mohammad Yasin Kalhoro, Muneer Ahmed Chachar and Mohammad Rafiq Chachar.

Police arrested five people including, Abdul Rehman Kalhoro, Mohammad Rafiq Kalhoro, Qamar Din, Anwar and Saeed and were conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.
