6 killed in Gujar Khan road accidents

GUJAR KHAN, March 15: Six persons, including two women, were killed and another woman was injured in two road accidents in Gujar Khan on Saturday, police and hospital sources told this reporter.

The first accident occurred at Gulyana Mor near Gujar Khan at about 7am when a Lahorebound car with six people on board rammed into a truck parked on a road side killing five of the passengers belonging to Lahore’s film industry on the spot.

They were identified as Hanif Baloch, assistant director, Bari Studios; Abdul Qadir, director of Shahnoor Studios; Zia Sultan, Alia Khan and Uzma Bibi.

They were going to Lahore after attending a dance party in Islamabad, police sources said.

The accident occurred apparently due to reckless driving.

The injured woman, whose identity could not be ascertained, was shifted to a Rawalpindi hospital.

The car was destroyed completely.

A case has been registered with the Gujar Khan police.

In the second incident an aged man was hit by a Lahore-bound passenger coach when he was crossing the road in Gujar Khan city.

The man, identified as Mohammad Bashir, was wounded seriously and shifted to Tehsil headquarters hospital but he died of his injuries. The police took the coach in custody and registered a case against the driver.—Correspondent
