By Our Correspondent

SHIKARPUR, March 15: A man was killed and another suffered serious injuries when they came under fire reportedly from a group of armed Jatoi tribesmen in Mehboob Goth village in the limits of Lakhi police station late on Friday night.

Gul Hassan alias Gul Mahar died on the spot and Abdul Qadir Jalbani were sitting outside a hotel in the village when the assailants opened fire on them. Gul Hassan died on the spot and Abdul Qadir suffered serious wounds.

The motive behind the murder was said to be an ongoing dispute between late Gul Hassan Mahar and Haji Karim Dino Jatoi over a piece of land. The dispute has so far claimed seven lives.

INJURED: Two drivers and four passengers of three coaches were injured when armed highwaymen opened fire on them after the drivers ignored their signal to stop and tried to speed past them on the Shikarpur-Kandhkot road near Shaheed Raza Muhammad police picket early on Saturday.

Reports said that the drivers Abdul Rehman Pathan and Liaquat and four passengers identified as Naeem Khan, Muhammad Abbas, Bismillah Khan and Ms Maryam were injured. The bandits, however, looted cash, mobile sets and other valuable belongings from the passengers and escaped.

HURT: Two more people were seriously injured when a group of armed bandits fired on their car on the Shikarpur-Garhi Yasin road near Koreja Laaro late on Friday night.

Moulana Mohammad Yaqoob Khoso and his relative Moulana Amanullah Khoso were returning from Dargah Syed Hussain Ali Shah of Qambar to Kandhkot when a group of five armed dacoits opened fire their car after the driver ignored their signal to stop and sped past them.
