Appointment of 3rd judge sought

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, March 15: The division bench of Sindh High Court in Sukkur requested the chief justice of Sindh High Court to appoint a judge after a difference of opinion emerged between two judges of a bench hearing a case on Friday.

Fahad Malik, a candidate of PML-Q for NA-208 Jacobabad seat had filed a petition through his lawyer against 21 respondents, including the Election Commission, chief election commissioner, provincial election commission of Sindh and others stating that the successful candidate on NA-208 seat, Mir Aijaz Jakhrani of PPP had rigged the polls in his favour.

He claimed that Aijaz Jakhrani’s men had kidnapped and tortured his polling agents and an FIR had been registered at Garhi Hassan police station against Jakhrani.

Justice (Dr) Rana Mohammad Shamim had said that the petition did not come under the jurisdiction of this court and asked the petitioner to move the election tribunal, while the other judge Justice Farrukh Zia Shaikh had declared the petition maintainable.

Board meeting: The 7th meeting of the Board of Governors, Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Hospital Sukkur was held on Saturday to discuss issues pertaining to utilization of budget, benefits to patients and progress of hospital.
