MANSEHRA: Bid to blow up KKH bridge foiled

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, March 15: The police have recovered a remote control device aimed at blowing up a bridge on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) on Saturday.

Station House Officer (SHO) Battal Mohammad Iqbal said that the police, when approached by the locals, rushed to the spot and recovered the device in the Sharka area.

The device was local-made and was sent to the Ordinance Factory Wah for investigations.

According to sources, following the terrorist attack at the UK-based Plan International on February 25, the administration of many NGOs and women institutions in the region had received threatening letters from unknown miscreants to mend their ways or face the so-called Taliban.

Various NGOs had suspended their field activities and were waiting for further instructions from their superiors and the district police had asked them to shift their offices to the Ghazi Kot Township.
