KARACHI, March 14: The Pakhtoon Students Federation (PSF) has accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and its students’ wing, APMSO, of attempting to trigger ethnic riots to blackmail the coming government.
The PSF warned that if action was not taken against those responsible for destroying peace in the educational institutions of the city, the government would be held responsible for the consequences.
Many of these observations were made by PSF leader Ismail Mehsood while speaking at a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club here on Friday.
He alleged that APMSO activists had abducted three workers of the PSF from Jauhar Degree College a few days back. They took the PSF workers to one of their sector offices where they were tortured and later thrown away wounded, he said.
When the PSF people went to lodge an FIR against the kidnappers, the relevant police officials refused to register any FIR against the sector-in-charge, he said.
Following that incident, he said, the APMSO activists stormed the Superior Science College where they roughed up members of the PSF in the presence of the area SHO and also threatened the PSF workers of grave consequences. Mr Mehsud alleged that the police instead of registering a case against the APMSO activists implicated the PSF workers in false cases.
Similarly, on Thursday the APMSO men entered Superior College and kidnapped PSF activists from classroom, he said.
The PSF leader appealed to the government to take notice of such incidents and warnedthat if the government failed to take action against the APMSO activists within a week, peaceful atmosphere in educational institutions would be deteriorated.
