SUKKUR March 14: The Sukkur circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Thursday directed the district naib nazim to convene meeting of the district council on March 17 so that the members could express their views about a no-confidence motion against the district nazim.

The division bench comprising Justice Dr. Rana Mohammad Shamim and

Justice Farrukh Zia Shaikh issued the directives on a petition filed by two women members of district council Ms Moran and Ms Jadul through their lawyer Ghulam Shabbir Shar.

District Naib Nazim Abdullah Ghumro requested the court to grant him more time for convening the meeting but the petitioners’ lawyer argued that the convener had failed to hold the meeting despite receiving two applications on Feb 28 and March 3, respectively.

Later, the court directed the district naib nazim to convene the meeting on March 17 so that the members could express their views about the no-confidence motion.

NOTICES: The Sukkur bench of the SHC on Thursday issued notices to the executive engineer of Public Health Engineering, deputy director of Environment, district nazim and DCO to appear in court on March 26 to submit comments on the mega drainage project.The court issued notices on a petition filed by a journalist, Lala Asad Pathan, through his lawyer Ghulam Shabbir Shar.
