KARACHI, March 11: An unbeaten knock of 149 by Saeed bin Nasir guided Balochistan to a respectable 308 in their first innings on the opening day of the Pentangular Cup match against NWFP at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Tuesday.

Put into bat by NWFP skipper Younis Khan, Balochistan recovered from 73 for four thanks to Saeed’s great contribution. The Karachi-based batsman, who is turning out for Balochistan as one of the guest players, held the innings together as he battled through for almost five hours and struck 17 fours and eight sixes in his 193-ball knock.

Sohaib Maqsood (60 off 69 balls, 12 fours) also made a handy contribution while dominating a fifth-wicket stand of 88 with Saeed.

Paceman Waqar Ahmed finished with four for 47.

NWFP closed at 36 for no loss in reply.
