UNITED NATIONS, March 11: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday strongly condemned “indiscriminate acts of terrorism” in Pakistan, referring to the suicide bombings that killed 26 people in Lahore. “The secretary-general strongly condemns these indiscriminate acts of terrorism,” his press office said in a statement.

Ban voiced concern about “the increase of terrorist attacks in Pakistan over the past few months and welcomes the resolve of the government and the people of Pakistan to unite against the scourge of terrorism.”

Suicide bombers detonated two bombs-laden trucks in Lahore on Tuesday killing 26 people, demolishing a police building.

The blasts, one targeting the Federal Investigation Agency headquarters and the other hitting an advertising firm, were the latest in a wave of bombings that have killed more than 600 people this year.—AFP
