DADU, March 11: Different parts of Dadu town remained without power for hours on Monday night, sparking street protests against the officials of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.
A large number of angry consumers held a demonstration and demanded that the Hesco authorities should take action against company officials for carrying out unscheduled load-shedding in the town.
The protesters complained that unscheduled load-shedding was seriously affecting business and routine life and alleged that Hesco officials were resorting to load-shedding to cover line losses.
They claimed trhat Hesco officials had imposed load-shedding after people refused to give them bribes for uninterrupted power supply.
SUSPENDED: Newly-appointed DPO of Dadu Manzoor Ahmed Khatian on Tuesday suspended four police officials and issued show-cause notice to an SHO on charges of subjecting a journalist to torture.
The DPO took action after meeting a delegation of journalists from Dadu, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Johi and Sehwan who staged a demonstration against police.
The DPO suspended ASI Mohammad Hassan Chandio, police constables Imdad Solangi, Umer Patojo, Imtiaz and Suleman and issued show-cause notice to SHO of Khairpur Nathan Shah police station Salahuddin Memon. He also appointed TPO of Dadu Gul Baig Jatoi as inquiry officer to investigate the matter and report him within seven days.
Khairpur Nathan Shah police reportedly tortured Iqbal Ahmed Khuharo, who worked for daily Hilal Pakistan when he was taking pictures of a scene of accident on March 5 in the town.
The journalists were led by the president of Journalist Foundation Ghous Ali Jhatial, Saeed Ahmed Memon and Nizam Shaikh.
