KARACHI: Dusty winds, fine rain hit city

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 11: The city remained in the grip of strong and dusty winds while it received a fine rain that made the weather pleasant on Tuesday.

The Met Office said strong gusty winds blew in from the north-westerly Balochistan side and moved due south towards the sea.

It said the speed of winds ranged between 25 and 30 knots. Normal wind velocity is between 8 and 10 knots during the day.

A knot equals one nautical mile – or 1.85 kilometres – per hour.

The Met Office said the presence of dust particles in the air reduced visibility to around two kilometres.

Met officials said this kind of weather was normal for this time of the year.

The minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday was 20ºC and the maximum temperature was 32ºC. Humidity was 34 per cent.

Monday’s minimum temperature was 18ºC and maximum temperature was 34ºC. Humidity was 24 per cent.

The Met officials said the 10 per cent rise in humidity was caused by a trace of rain on Tuesday.

In their forecast for Wednesday, the officials said that the weather would remain fair / partly cloudy with gusty winds and the minimum temperature was expected to remain around 19ºC.
