Illegal constructions concern Shahbaz

By Our Correspondent

MURREE, March 10: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif has expressed concern over unplanned and illegal constructions on both sides of the Mall in Murree.

He visited the Mall from GPO Chowk to Pindi Point, where a large number of PML-N workers and local leaders greeted him. Shahbaz visited Murree for the first time after returning from exile. Raja Daftar Abbasi, president PML-N Murree, Nasir Abbasi and others briefed him on the large-scale illegal constructions in Murree during the last a couple of years.

Later, the PML-N local leaders told reporters that Shahbaz had promised that the new government would look into the matter afresh and take action against those responsible.

Lawyers’ protest: In connection with the black flag week, lawyers, civil society representatives and leaders and workers of political parties held a protest demonstration here on Monday.

After marching on the Mall from Marhaba Chowk, the protesters reached GPO chowk, where they were addressed by Nazir Abbasi Advocate, president Murree Bar Association, Raja Daftar Abbasi, president PML-N Murree, Zulfiqar Amin Abbasi Advocate, Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry Advocate, Asad Iqbal Abbasi Advocate and others.

The speakers welcomed the Murree declaration which promised that the deposed judges would be reinstated one month after formation of the new government. They said the declaration was another historical document after the constitution of 1973 and Charter of Democracy.

They said President Pervez Musharraf should leave the office and hand over power to the representatives of the people.
