MQM leader calls for MLAs’ arrest, removal

ISLAMABAD, March 10: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s parliamentary leader in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly Tahir Khokhar on Monday called for arresting and removing from ministerial offices the three Muslim Conference lawmakers who attacked last week.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Khokhar said he had lodged a report against the ministers, but the police officials had declined to register an FIR.

He alleged that the AJK government was exerting pressure on the police to prevent registration of a case against the ministers involved in bashing the MQM legislator.

Mr Khokhar threatened to hold a protest demonstration in front of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club’s camp office in the Pakistani capital on March 13 if no action was taken against the MLAs. The MQM will also hold protests across Azad Kashmir, he added.—APP
