PESHAWAR: Housing scheme for govt servants planned
Bureau Report
PESHAWAR, March 10: Caretaker NWFP Chief Minister Shamsul Mulk has said the government has planned a comprehensive housing scheme for the provision of shelter to government servants and general public in seven major districts of the province.
The scheme has been initiated from Peshawar and it will be extended soon to other six major districts, an official statement issued here on Monday said. Addressing the farewell function arranged by secretariat employees in his honour, Mr Mulk said a right decision for the benefit of target public needed sincerity and an honest approach, the statement added.
He called upon the employees to use their energies and try to be the instrument of ‘problems-resolution-mechanism.’ He said that NWFP lagged behind in all respects and required a lot of work and the caretaker setup tried to do that it could in consonance with its mandate. He said that there was no limit for good work and therefore, all must contribute for delivering well. His government, Mr Mulk said, had been for a limited time-frame with a limited mandate to conduct elections in fair and transparent manner allowing every body to exercise his right to vote. He said that it was a matter of satisfaction for his government that the entire process accomplished in a peaceful environment.
The chief minister said that the government ensured the judicious utilisation of its time, adding that decisions that should have been taken much earlier were taken by the caretaker government which would yield far reaching results for the province and its people.
Additional Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the government plan for the welfare of the low earning group employees, saying that the process initiated by the caretaker setup would continue.
