KARACHI, March 9: A protest rally was staged against sky-rocketing prices of essential goods outside Karachi Press Club on Sunday.
Holding placards and banners, the participants of the rally were raising slogans against rulers. They demanded reduction in prices of essential commodities like flour, sugar, milk, oil, vegetables and fruit, besides making utility services accessible to common man at affordable rates.
The rally, which was organised by Pasban Pakistan, was addressed by Syed Ashraf Hussain, Abdul Hakim, Naeem Shaikh, Akram Agaria, Dr Tariq Salim, Afzal Ahmad and others.
Mr Hussain called upon rulers to give exemplary punishment to hoarders and profiteers. He demanded a cut in prices of essential commodities. The prices were rising because hoarders and profiteers were present in the ranks of all major political parties and in the establishment, he said.—Staff Reporter
