SHO, SI booked for killing two in shootout

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, March 8: No arrest has so far been made despite registration of a murder case on the directives of a local additional sessions judge (ASJ) on Friday against Saddar station house officer (SHO), a sub-inspector (SI), and 12 others for killing two men in a staged shootout.

SHO Razzaq Warraich, SI Muhammad Anwar and others were booked after ASJ Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas accepted a petition filed by the father of one of the victims, Muhammad Sarwar.

Sarwar’s father Muhammad Latif moved the court against the extra-judicial killing of his son and another and said that the Saddar police had arrested his son and Ejaz, alias Jajji, in unknown cases and later demanded Rs500,000 gratification to release them.

He said that on their failure to bribe the police, both the young men were killed in a staged shootout on Nov 21, 2007.

The ASJ ordered booking the SHO, SI and 12 others in a murder case besides immediately arresting them.

Though the Saddar police have registered the case against the police officials, none of them have so far been arrested to comply with court orders.
