Merit to be given priority

NAWABSHAH, March 8: Advising political parties to refrain from interfering in educational institutions, newly-appointed Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology Prof Dr Wahid Bux Soomro said only merit will be given priority. He was speaking to journalists in the local press club on Saturday. He called for discouraging elements responsible for creating unrest in institutions. He said implementation of peace and harmony will be his first choice without compromising it at any stage.

Former Vice Chancellor Prof Anwar Ahmed Junejo said he made efforts to develop university and created four new departments on taking over charge some eight years ago. He said an amount of Rs475 million was approved in a meeting of the CDWP for the development works of university. He said issue of self granted leave was resolved by him.

Prof A.B. Soomro, Dean Faculty of Engineering, and Manzoor Ali Panhwar, Director Students Affairs were also present.
