Four coaches, three trucks looted

SHIKARPUR, March 8: Highway men looted coaches and trucks near Pathan Wahi in the jurisdiction of Khanpur police station, on Shikarpur-Kashmore Road on Saturday.

According to reports, a group of men intercepted four coaches coming from Peshawar to Karachi and three trucks going from Shikarpur to Kandhkot and looted cash, mobile phones and valuables from passengers, conductors and drivers of coaches and trucks. After looting the coaches, they escaped while firing in the air.

Later, the looted passengers and transporters blocked Shikarpur-Kashmore Road to protest the incident and demanded recovery of looted articles and arrest of culprits. The road was reopened for vehicular traffic with the efforts of police after three hours on assurance.

KILLED: One person was killed while four others received serious bullet injuries in an armed clash between two groups of Teghani tribes in Katcha area, in the jurisdiction of Karampur police station, on Saturday.

Mohammad Murad Teghani was killed in an exchange of fire between two rival groups while names of injured could not be ascertained. The motive behind the incident was said to be an old enmity.

KIDNAPPED: A class two student was kidnapped from Garhi Yasin Town on Friday.

Sohail Ahmed Pirzada reported at Garhi Yasin police station on Saturday that his son Farooq Ahmed 8, went to purchase sweets from a shop near the house close to the National Bank Chowk Garhi Yasin but did not return.

The complainant informed police that his son was kidnapped by some unidentified men. Police were making efforts for the recovery of kidnapped boy.

BREAK-IN: Some thieves broke open the locks of a mobile shop near Jahaz Chowk on Friday night and took away mobile sets, batteries, and cash from the shop.
