KARACHI, March 8: The judge of the special anti-corruption court, Syed Gul Munir Shah, on Saturday adjourned the hearing of a corruption case against a former chief of the Karachi Building Control Authority and others till Mach 22.
The accused, retired Brig A. S. Nasir, submitted through his counsel an application for the cancellation of cases against him under Section 249-A of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Earlier, the court had indicted the accused, retired Brig A. S. Nasir, former chief controller of the KBCA, Akhlaq Ahmed, former senior building controller, Mumtaz Hadier, former deputy building controller, Ali Zafar Qadri, former senior building controller, Mohammad Faheem, former deputy controller, Jafar Imam, former assistant deputy controller, Moiudien Sharif and Hawa Bahi on charges of corruption. The accused had pleaded not guilty and opted to contest the case.
The other accused in the case, Gul Mohammad Khanani, owner of Gul Plaza, Syed Mehmood Ali, senior town building control officer, Abdul Rehman Ansari, district controller buildings, and Ahsan, assistant controller buildings, have already been indicted in the cases.
