KARACHI, March 7: Top seed Jalil Khan maintained his ascendancy when he whipped sibling Yasir Khan in straight sets to claim the men’s singles crown in the second Sindh ranking tennis tournament at the DHA Sunset Club on Friday.

He took some 70 minutes to wrap up the match 6-2, 6-4 and earned a reward of Rs8,000. Yasir got a purse of Rs4,000.

The final was staged ahead of schedule as both the finalists are due to fly to Islamabad on Saturday to appear in Davis Cup trials. They will be accompanied by Nasir Mushtaq.

Top seed Zuhair Raza and second seed Mustafa Zaidi stepped into the juniors U-17 singles last four with an emphatic win over their opponents. The former carved out a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Rahmat Ali while the latter got the better of Abdul Rehman 6-2, 7-5.

Omer Shahid has already made it to the last four and will be joined by the winner of Talha Saeed versus Bilal Shariff on Saturday.

Yasir Rasool bt Saad Pervez 8-4. Talha Zubair Surmawala bt Shahzaib Nasir 8-4.

Second Round:

Imran Mooraj bt Mudassir 8-0, Talha Zubair Surmawala bt Ali Mooraj 8-5.

Boys / girls U-11 pro-set quarter-finals:

Fraz Ahmed bt Maheen Dada 8-4.

Saturday’s fixtures:

Boys U-15 singles; juniors U-17 singles 9.00am; boys U-13 singles, ladies singles 11.00am; boys U-11 singles 1.00pm.
